Iamsu! feat. HBK CJ - Up All Night

O Iamsu! é um rapper irado que na minha opinião é bem pouco apreciado. Ele já fazia um som irado e bem criativo, semelhante ao que o DJ Mustard fazia, e apesar de além de ser um ótimo produtor ser um ótimo rapper ele não chegou a estourar (apesar de ter feito parte de hits como UP! do LoveRance e Function do E-40). Esse é mais um som que prova isso, dessa vez com uma participação do CJ que faz parte do grupo do Suzy, a HBK Gang. Pra ouvir o som, clique abaixo.

Young Thug feat. Iamsu! - OMG

Não vou nem falar como o Young Thug anda foda ultimamente pra não soar repetitivo. Enfim, essa semana foi lançada a mixtape Young Thugga Mane La Flare, colaboração entre o Young Thug e o Gucci Mane gravada antes do Gucci ir pra cadeia e tal. Eu não tive a oportunidade de ouvir ainda, mas a tape deve ser bem foda. De qualquer forma, essa musica, OMG, faz parte da tape e o Thugga tá lançando como single. A batida foi feita pelo C4, de Atlanta, e pelo P-Lo, da Bay Area, e a vibe é justamente uma mistura desses dois lugares, da maneira mais louca possivel. O som também tem participação do Iamsu!, que é um dos caras que mais manda bem na Bay Area e ele manda bem aqui também, mas nem se compara ao Thugga. Enfim, é um som louco pra caralho que tem um bounce fudido, pra ouvir, clique abaixo.

Billboard Fridays: Sage The Gemini feat. IamSu - Gas Pedal

E fiiiiinalmente alguém desbanca o Macklemore e Ryan Lewis do topo. Esse alguém como eu previ foi o Jay Z com o seu ultimo hit, Holy Grail. Dito isso, vamos ao destaque da semana que vai pro Sage The Gemini. O Sage é um rapper e produtor da Bay Area do qual eu só tinha ouvido falar por algumas musicas que ele fez com o IAMSU! Agora que eu já ouvi esse single dele que está estourando atualmente nos States dá pra dizer que tanto a vibe quanto o jeito de rimar do Sage são bem parecidos com os do IAMSU!, o que é uma coisa boa, pois ambos tem rimas criativas e uma flow que muda bastante e não é nenhum pouco monotona. A batida desse som foi feita pelo próprio Sage The Gemini e é super minimalista como o som que o DJ Mustard iniciou na Bay Area. Enfim, a musica é divertida e o clipe me surpreendeu. Eu esperava algo super colorido e cheio de dancinhas, mas na real o clipe é sóbrio, tentando passar um ar de sério, com o Sage, o IAMSU e as várias minas se vestindo mais como modelos do que como alguém num video de rap. Enfim, pelo menos ele é divertido e eu particularmente gostei. Pra ver é só clicar acima e abaixo segue o Top 25 da semana.

Finally someone took the top spot out of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' hands, and as I predicted, Jay Z was the one that made this feat with Holy Grail. Let's go to this week's highlight though. Sage The Gemini is a producer and a rapper from the Bay Area, which I had only previously heard of from some songs he did with IAMSU! After hearing the songs that he has charting right now I got a little hold on his sound and it's safe to say that his flow and way of rhyming is pretty close to IAMSU's, which is a great thing, cause Suzy knows what he is doing when it comes to rhyming. What you should expect is some clever party-rhyming delivered in everchanging flows, which is very entertaining. The beat was done by Sage The Gemini himself and is really minimalistic, kinda like what DJ Mustard started with his Ratchet movement. I found the song pretty fun and cool, but the video surprised me a little bit. I was expecting something with lots of bright colors, people doing some crazy dance moves and such, but what I actually saw was Sage, IAMSU and his female companions all dressed really soberly, kind of like models and such. It's definitelly a fresh look and I kinda digged the video. You can check it along with this week's top 25 above.

Iamsu! - Hipster Girls

O Iamsu! lançou a sua mixtape nova, a Kilt II nesse final de semana e eu achei ela bem de boa de ouvir, bem de verão apesar de ser inverno no Brasil. Esse som demonstra como a flow dele fica bem na batida de boa mas animadinha que os Trackademicks fizeram pra ele. Resumindo, ele sabe o que fazer, rimando o suficiente pra tu ver que ele sabe o que está fazendo mas sem parecer estar tentando muito, sempre se mantendo bem cool. Enfim, o rapper e o som são fodas, pra ouvir é só clicar abaixo.

Iamsu! - Rep That Gang

O Iamsu, como eu já devo ter dito aqui, é um rapper da West Coast que junto com o DJ Mustard está re-escrevendo como a club music dos States é feita. O cara é um produtor muito bom e é também um ótimo rapper, então é o tipo de cara que tem que se ficar ligado. Nesse som produzido pelo P-Lo do grupo de produção The Invasion o Iamsu basicamente explica como ele representa a Heartbreak Gang, grupo que ele encabeça. Enfim, o som é bem fodinha, pra ouvir é só clicar abaixo.

The Real 10 Hottest MCs In The Game (2012) by Spin

Muito mais interessante e compreensível na minha opinião é a lista que a Spin fez pra contrapor a da MTV. Enquanto a MTV tem umas escolhas bem clichê, a Spin leva ao pé da letra a palavra "quente" e vê quem realmente tá ajudando a defini-la durante esse ano, foda-se se ele é famoso, já estourou ou não. O que importa é ser quente mesmo. Apesar disso, uma coisa na qual ambas concordam é que o Kendrick Lamar foi o mais destacado do ano, o que na minha opinião é indubidável. E na melhor tradição dos sons da Bay Area vem o IAMSU, que se você conhece é provavelmente pela musica UP!, na qual ele produziu e participou para o LoveRance e inclusive aparece ainda no top 25 de rap da Billboard. No entanto o som do IAMSU vai muito além disso, e o que é interessante é que ele faz um som viável de tocar nas radios, mas que ainda assim faz referência à area da qual ele veio e tem letras boas. O som desse video é da ultima mixtape dele, Kilt, e vocês podem vê-lo (e o seu Ford Mustang dos anos 80) clicando acima.

And in the best Bay Area tradition comes IAMSU, which you probably, if you know, is probably from UP!, the song he produced for LoveRance and in which he also has a feature. IAMSU's sound goes much further than that though. What's interesting about him is that he makes radio friendly songs that still makes reference to the place where he is from and has some good lyrics. This song is from his latest mixtape, Kilt, and you can see him (and his 80's Ford Mustang) by clicking above.

Billboard Thursdays: LoveRance feat. 50 Cent - UP!

Então, essa semana o destaque da Billboard vai pro LoveRance. Ele escalou pro segundo lugar na parada da Billboard com o seu single UP! O som foi produzido pelo IamSu, e o rapper de Oakland, CA, estava promovendo-o independentemente com algum sucesso, chegando ao top 100 da Billboard. Ao ver isso a Interscope assinou um contrato com um rapper e relançou o single, agora com um verso do 50 Cent, portanto as duas versões da musica contam pra popularidade do rapper. This week's Billboard highlight goes to LoveRance. The Oakland, CA rapper escalated to the second place on Billboard's rap charts with UP!, his single produced by IamSu. He first promoted it independently, reaching Billboard's Hot 100, and after seeing this, Interscope signed him. Afted the signing, 50 Cent, which has a contract with Interscope too, released the official remix for the single, which got promoted by the label. Both songs are charting and you can check the video for it and this week's Billboard Rap Chart above.
